Backup & Restore

You may back up and restore data files from within the program. You may also upload a backup to ALMSys, Inc. for support assistance.

Backing Up
By default, the file created for the backup is, "MoIEBackup.zip". This .zip file is password protected and encrypted. By default, your previous backup will be overwritten by the new backup. If you would rather NOT overwrite the previous backup, then check the Use date/time in file name box. This will change the backup name to a "MoIEBackup-yyyymmdd-hhmmss.zip" format, where the current date and time is filled in.

Click the Backup button to begin the backup process. You will be prompted for the folder destination and file name for the backup. It is highly recommended to back up your data to a different drive than where the software is installed.

Please back up often. In the event of a hard drive failure, your data is the most important part of the system. Support can always help you reinstall the software. However, only you can protect your data. (Backing up to an external drive is recommended for disaster recovery purposes.)

The backup location and file name will be remembered for the next time.

Restoring
You may only restore data from backups taken with the same software version. If you need to restore data from a different version, then you will need help from Support.

Click the Restore button to begin the restore process. You will be prompted for the location and file name of the backup file. The backup file selected will be analyzed to determine if it may be restored. If so, you will be allowed to continue with the restore.

After the restore has been completed, you do not need to completely exit the software. The new data will be made available immediately on exit from the Backup / Restore screen.

Uploading to Support
Your last backup file may be uploaded to Support for assistance. The current backup file listed on the screen is what will be sent.

To begin the process, enter your name (or company name) in the Your Name field. Then, click the Upload button. The backup file will be transmitted directly to the ALMSys, Inc. website. Progress of the upload will be displayed.

Once the file has been uploaded, click the link to send an email to Support. In this email, please describe the nature of the problem. You may attach screen prints if desired.
